State voting rules for Florida

Florida voters abroad need to request a ballot each calendar year they want to vote in.

How to Send
Registration: Mail or Online Upload
(You must have a Florida State identification card to use Florida’s online voter registration system. You do not need a state ID to use www.votefromabroad.org)
Ballot Request: Email or Fax or Mail
(After March 20, 2025, voters must also include a new form indicating why they are unable to vote in person. The form is provided when requesting a ballot using www.votefromabroad.org)
Ballot Return: Fax or Mail
Type of Ballot Based on Voter Category

If you choose “My Return is Uncertain,” you will receive a ballot to vote in federal elections (US President, US Senate, and US House of Representatives).
Depending on your county, you may receive a ballot to vote in Florida state or local elections.

"Intend to Return" means you have an intention to return in the future -- but you don't need a set date or specific plans.
If you choose “Intend to Return,” you will receive a ballot to vote in federal, state, and local elections.
